Choosing Wedding Napkins
Wedding napkins are an important and useful item to have at any wedding reception. In fact, they just might be the most important item to add to any place setting, bar area, or buffet table. Your wedding guests will need plenty of napkins throughout the wedding reception, so make sure to have plenty of them available for their use. They will need cocktail napkins at the bar when they order their drinks, dinner napkins at the table when they eat their meal, and dessert napkins when the wedding cake is served.
For weddings, paper cocktail napkins are common because they can be personalized with any number of sayings, pictures, or designs on them. Nothing says you’re at a wedding better than personalized cocktail napkins! Cocktail napkins can also be used with the serving of the wedding cake. They are the perfect size to carry around with your drink or your plate of cake, so make sure to have plenty of them available for your guests to use.
On the wedding reception tables, you can choose to use cloth or paper napkins for the place settings. Cloth napkins are the more elegant choice for a formal sit-down dinner because they can be placed on the laps and are large enough to be used between multiple courses. Most formal restaurants, hotels, and dining halls will give you the option of using their formal cloth napkins for your wedding reception. When using cloth napkins make sure to also choose pretty napkin rings to hold the napkins in place. This will give the table a finished and refined look.
You can, however, still choose to use paper dinner napkins with the table settings. Brightly colored dinner napkins look great sitting on top of or in between bright white plates. Paper wedding napkins are also great for use on the buffet or appetizer tables. You might want to use a mixture of cloth and paper napkins for your wedding since they can serve different purposes. Cloth napkins can be used as part of the table settings and paper wedding napkins can be used at the food service tables. You might also want to use napkin rings with paper wedding napkins, particularly if you are having an outdoor reception because they will keep the napkins from flying around.
