Your wedding reception is a time for you to kick up your heels and celebrate your newly sealed wedding vows in a fun and beautiful way. In order to get the party started, you’ll want to think about what types of wedding reception table decorations you will choose. Creating an atmosphere that reflects your personality and style will instantly set the mood for the room. Aside from the bride and groom, your table decorations should be the topic of discussion and main focal point at your wedding reception.

Starting with the center of the table, you want to plan out how you are going to arrange your wedding reception table decorations in layers by radiating out towards the surrounding chairs. The first things you will need to decide on are the tablecloths and linens. Depending on where your wedding reception is held, you will probably have a variety of options to choose from. The most common choice for the bottom layer of tablecloth is white. This is a good start, but don’t just stop there. Adding several layers on top of the tablecloth will give your wedding reception a rich, finished, and well thought out look. Consider draping one or more accent linens on top of the white tablecloth of your bridal party colors. You can also go with individual placemats and napkins of one or more colors for a different kind of look. Another great look uses colored tablecloths as the main linen with some type of see-through linen draped on top, such as tulle, lace, or mesh, to create a peek-a-boo effect.

Next, you’ll want to carefully choose your wedding reception centerpieces. Your centerpieces should be the main focal point of your wedding reception tables and they can be as large or small as you choose. The main elements of any centerpiece are usually color, texture, and light. This is where you really want to create something awe-inspiring for your guests to look at. You don’t need to limit yourself with just a plain glass vase with a few pretty flowers either. Instead, experiment with sand, glass beads, edible decorations, bamboo, grasses, or other natural elements that will create a beautiful feast for the eyes. Surround these elements with interesting candles to give your centerpieces movement and light. Try using special lights that sit at the bottom of your water vases to create a unique and romantic mood.

Now it’s time to add a little whimsy to the tables that are unique or unexpected. Add a little sparkle to your tables by spreading different types of confetti all around the top. Wedding confetti comes in a wide variety of shapes, such as hearts, wedding bells, and varying colors to match your wedding reception color scheme. You can even find confetti to go with theme weddings, such as cowboy boots for a western style wedding or sweet little cherubs for a Valentine’s Day wedding.

Finally, you’ll want to choose some unique or interesting holders to go with your beautifully designed seating or place cards. Again, you can go as simple or extravagant as you like when choosing your place cards and holders. If you like the simple look, you can use typical shapes like little hearts, shells, or balls, usually in a silver or gold finish. They serve their purpose as place card holders while also adding a little touch of sparkle. If you are drawn more to the dramatic, you can create place card holders that look more like miniature centerpieces for each place setting. Special place card holder vases can be filled with large or small bouquets of decorative flowers, bamboo, or other natural elements. This look creates an eye-catching wedding reception table with lots of color and texture.

By choosing your wedding reception table decorations carefully and thoughtfully, you can create a fun, beautiful, and sophisticated look by pulling all these elements together into a complementary and cohesive treasure for the eyes.
